Derreck Michael Brown first considered a career in the law as an undergraduate at the University of Houston, when he was working full-time position as a general assistant/clerk for a prominent Plaintiffs’ attorney while attending classes in the evening. Upon completing his J.D. at St. Mary’s Law School, Derreck worked briefly at firms in San Antonio and Houston before moving to Austin.
In 2000, Derreck became associated with a Houston defense law firm, applying the insight from his prior experiences to the benefit of his defense clients. He joined the Austin office of Fletcher Farley in 2007, and has developed a substantial defense litigation practice handling a wide variety of matters, including personal injury, premises liability, products liability, construction defect, and government liability cases. Derreck has represented clients in cases spanning the width and breadth of the state, particularly in Central, South and West Texas. He has successfully tried a number of cases to verdict. Additionally, he possesses extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution negotiations.
Derreck is a lifelong Texan who believes there is no better place to practice law. He and his wife, a school psychologist, and their two daughters, reside in Austin, Texas, where Derreck plays Center Back for an indoor and outdoor recreational soccer league.
