Tom Hoekstra practices in the firm's Austin office where he assists clients in resolving a broad spectrum of legal matters including bankruptcy, environmental law and litigation, real estate and transactional issues, oil and gas, and general commercial litigation. Tom has significant courtroom experience, having litigated more than 120 state and federal jury cases to verdict.

Having handled complex business transactions and disputes for more than 30 years, Tom takes the time to understand his clients' businesses and the goals each client wants to achieve. Utilizing his experience in both informal negotiations and non-binding mediation, as well as effective and efficient litigation strategies, Tom is able to move his clients' issues to an advantageous solution.

  • Representation of independent bus company creditors' committee in the Greyhound bankruptcy cases
  • Representation of major bus company creditors in the Trailways bankruptcy case
  • Representation of major bus company creditors in the first U.S./ Canadian transnational bus company bankruptcy case
  • Representation of GE Capital in multiple bankruptcy cases
  • Representation of Chapter 11 debtors in various bankruptcy cases
  • Representation of Southwestern Bell Telephone, L.P., in a federal CERCLA and breach of contract case
  • Representation of Halliburton Company in a federal CERCLA case involving 119 sites in five states and two countries
  • Representation of international telecommunications company, international chemical company and national banking association regarding state and federal environmental and property rights issues
  • Representation of various national companies in resolving federal and state environmental issues, including air, water and solid waste problems
  • Representation of Northern Trust Bank NA in multiple real estate matters in Texas
  • Representation of Colliers International in various real estate matters in Texas
  • Representation of multiple purchasers and buyers in complex commercial transactions
  • In-house litigation counsel for Valero Energy Corporation
  • Represented ExxonMobil Corporation as a defendant in a $30 million production damage suit in Scurry County, Texas
